Vacant On Your Vacation

Las Vegas has officially hit the triple digits. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to cool off besides blasting your AC. Here are some tips to outsmart the heat this season.

1. Drink more water than you think you need: The best way to avoid dehydration is to drink before you get thirsty. If you wait until after you’re thirsty, you’re already dehydrated!
2. Rethink Appliance Usage: Avoid cooking meals that require oven use, stick to cold items or a slow cooker instead to prevent heating up your home even more.
3. NEVER leave your pets or children in a parked car: Take your kids with you and leave your pets at home with plenty of water and some shade. Cracking the windows will only lead them to a slower death. Unfortunately, Las Vegas sees too many cases of this each summer, and the total number of U.S. heatstroke deaths of children left in cars in 2015 totaled at 24.
4. Check your tires and wipers: Check your wipers as well as your tires this month. It is typical of Las Vegas to have summer monsoons. And Rubber dry rots in desert climates. Tires are more prone to crack and leak long before you wear out the tread. Plus, you don’t want to get caught in a sudden downpour and find that your wipers are crumbled strips flailing and scraping on your windshield. *Make sure your engine coolant and water levels are correct for the season too! *

So get your sunscreen on, flip flops out, and water bottles ready. And be sure to check out the link below for the top pools to dip your toes in this summer across town.
